It's the Black Spot!!!

"Dear goodness help you, lady."

"Hu, how long do I have, when will I start to feel it, the transforming?" stammered Karina questioningly.

"We don't know for certain the exact length of time, but..."

"Spit it out already!" yelled Ethan, shaking both in annoyance at the long delay and fear for the nearly unknown person he helped to save and who, it seems, is now in certain doom.

"Well, we plot it at around four days starting from the first time sunlight hits the infected portion."

"Then we only need to keep her inside then, right?" asked Kaley, visibly relieved at the news, then immediately tensing again at the next news.

"No, unfortunately even wood and concrete can't completely block out sunlight, leaving her here would commit her immediately to her fate."

"Oh goodness," cried Kaley, tears springing to her tears, Karina at the news went limp, going into deep shock at this news.

"Wait, you said 'leaving her here' would do that, is there another option?" asked Ethan.

"Very quick, you caught on to that very quickly. Yes, we can take her to my main base and we have a containment unit there that is made out of a special material that completely blocks out sunlight, as well as sound. If we were to put her in there, she would be safe."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Yelled Kaley, struggling to her feet attempting to carry the limp Karina.

"Unfortunately, my base of operations is too far away, and since we cannot use any vehicles that have internal combustion engines in it as long as the Drakt are here, we must walk the distance, a journey of two days, or in this case, due to the season it will be pushing it to get it done in three nights, and that is if we wait until tomorrow."

"Then there is no hope for her," mumbled Kaley, sinking back down with Karina.

"Normally, yes. Fortunately, I came prepared for this possibility, and for other reasons too... I actually am carrying a spare portable version of our containment unit," at this, Lieutenant Colonel Mcdouglas pulled a wrapped black tent-like object, "if you will open this and have Karina get in, she will be protected, unless something tears it, until tomorrow night."

Ethan grunted as he caught the tossed containment tent, "wow, this thing is really heavy."

"Now you understand why it has to be so thin. It's really heavy, but all it takes is a little pressure to tear it and at that point all is lost for the person inside."

"So what then? how do we make sure she stays safe?" asked Kaley, putting Karina down and moving to help Ethan put the tent up.

"You must stay up and keep watch, here is a paper for any authorities that arrive, and here is another shield device, it looks like this man..."

"Ethan," he interjected.

"I see, it looks like Ethan can teach you to use that."

"But what about you?" asked Kaley.

At this, Lieutenant Colonel McDouglas held up the palm of his left hand, which held a small dark spot on it, "I have been marked too, and am infected, which is why I carry two of the containment units."

"But then, that means...!" exclaimed Kaley.

"Yes, you must stay awake, all day, to assure that she, and I, are kept safe. All day, by yourselves."

Greetings and Salutations,

Well, as I'm sure you all noticed that I did not post my story post last week. This I blame on my friends for not bugging me enough about it. Tis their fault and rests not at all upon my laziness and non inclination towards posting on time. Anyways, for some reason this post was causing me trouble. I just couldn't figure out how to have the middle in there and then the end was just causing me pain. Shall I end it here? No, there. Wait, but here is better. ARGH. At one point I even started a whole different type of post, a sort of throwback to what I used to do, but then I came back to this (that's still saved so you may still see it one day). Anyways, there ya go, a post, happy?

A Little Glimpse to Bide Me Time

Greetings and Salutations,

This upcoming week I will hopefully post another of the story posts, I'm sure one of my friends who deeply cares about this blog will continue reminding me about it until I do. But in the meantime, I have a little personal update for you. I just finished my Sophomore year of college in game design, and have developed quite a few very small, not fun at all, games to get by all the many assignments involved. Bored with that, I joined to create Chimaera Games with a friend, and we are currently developing (or for the ones who have been following since the very beginning, resuming development) a single player turn based strategy game, similar to the Fire Emblem series, named Renegades of Flame. Unfortunately though, we both hold other jobs and are both in school, so getting together to work on it is difficult and so development on that will probably be slow. However, my mind recently spawned a great new idea that I am going to be running with shortly. It is a hybrid text based and graphic game based around a community of different types. And I leave you with the original concept to the game, written by me.

Farewells and Valedictions,

It happened before anybody could learn anything, one moment everyone was driving or eating or watching TV, then next thing everyone heard, the radio was telling everyone to get to a nuclear shelter as fast as they can. The few that survived that blast returned to the surface to learn from the few military survivors that moments before the attack struck, America struck back. It seems, from what limited intelligence was gathered, that a group of  physicists, Russian, Indian, and Chinese, had joined together in Upper Mongolia, each dissatisfied with their countries, and amassed an arsenal of nuclear devices, both those that they designed themselves, and others that they 'liberated' from their respective countries. The terrorists were annihilated as well, as far as we can tell, but before the satellite dishes were destroyed we were receiving reports and emergency transmissions from every first world country in the world, and in addition to that the satellite images showed missiles streaking to every part of the world, striking the capitol cities and nearly all other major cities of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Europe, North and South America, and Australia. There is hope that at least a few of the US's military bases around the world were able to halt a portion of the barrage of missiles, but prospects of them being able to defend both the cities they are near and themselves are not high due to the incredibly high pace set by the  terrorist movement in their attack.

And as if that wasn't enough, here, just outside Atlanta, we had the worse problem of the CDC. One would have thought that the high heat would have destroyed the malignant viruses and other bacterium housed within its' walls, but no, the housings were designed to be kept safe in case of emergency attack. The concrete was too thick and the blast too far away to cause enough heat through all the many layers of protection to destroy them. However, the earthquake immediately following the blast shattered many containment units, shards of rock and glass ripped many HAZMAT suits, and the screaming people left the building before they had noticed what they had done. The first of these carriers swept over the remaining towns, looking for some way to get inside a shelter before the fallout rained down upon them. We lost several men who went down in a shelter that had been opened to a carrier. They yelled for us to close and lock the door when they reached the bottom. The things they told us...... They screamed for two days, their minds gone mad with the horrible agony from this potent evil concoction and the terror of dying surrounded by this unimaginably evil visage of death, the works of this cocktail of the world's most deadly and horrifying diseases and viruses. We marked the door in red paint we found nearby, hoping another group wouldn't be so stupid as to do what we did.

Life is completely different now. Life is exactly the same. Sure, we don't drive to work in a cubicle every day from nine to five, come home and sit in front of the TV watching reruns before switching to the latest football game. We now go out and work from nine to five rebuilding the barricades and fortifications. Some work in the fields, some write down what they recall from books they read and merit badges they earned, almost all of us work on innovation and I..... well, someone's got to go out to the store occasionally. I'm the king, the master, the... well, not really, I'm just the one that protects everyone else. I'm the one that trains and leads some of my fellow survivors in battle against the various new problems that arise in this society. I'm the one who leads out foraging parties to gather much needed supplies to build the next genius invention, or rebuild from a flood, or help versus a sickness, or just to bring home the bacon. I'm the liaison with the other communities of survivors.

I'm the one...... who needs your command.

The Call to Justice and Honor

"My name is Kasyn, Kasyn Mauri."

"Wait... Kasyn.... Daren, isn't that the name of Taine's squad leader?"

"I heard you say Taine's name back in the orifice, how do the two of you know Taine?" asked Kasyn.

"...sigh... he was the one that brought the two of us together and created the friendship we now hold so dearly." Came the reply from Daren, "He brought us together, taught us all we know, trained us both physically and mentally, and gave us the skills, abilities, and materials to both protect and return the fight to the Drakt. He was our teacher, our friend, and was our leader all those years ago when we destroyed the first orifice at camp Smoothbark."

"He left less than a week after that, leaving us his tools to help the next people and telling us that he would keep in touch, but nothing ever came of that, we never heard from him again." Said Jaison, shaking his head at the ground.

"So you two are the ones he talked about... interesting," pondered Kasyn, looking more intently at the two, "Looks like my trip had added benefits."

"So you are Taine's squad leader! He told us he was under you... how is he? Are we going to be able to join his team and work with him?" questioned Jaison eagerly.

"Taine is....." Kasyn looked deep into the eyes of Jaison and hesitated.

"What?" asked Jaison.

"Taine retired last year, he was my best team leader, and I am looking for a good replacement for him, in fact, my entire team has left and I am looking into recruiting new squad members."

"Well, I believe you can count us in, Kasyn, he trained us well, and we already have a good deal of experience in taking down the Drakt." Daren said as he looked back down the road towards the hidden mouth of the orifice."

"Yeah, we're sorry to hear that Taine left, but we'll do our best to be even better than he was."

"You'll have to do your very best, I accept you as new members of my new squad. We must now continue back to the camp, no more talking for now, we must save all of our energy to the trek ahead, it's long."

"Yes Sir!" Came the chorused responses from the two young men standing before Kasyn.

Eye Opening? Or Just More to Learn

"Jaison...? Daren...? Is that you?"

Ethan edged slowly towards the shattered remains of the thin wooden door that had once led to the back storage and delivery room. Looking through the door, he gave an involuntary gasp at the carnage inside. Boxes torn open, pieces of plastic wrap covering everything, a thin layer of dust that might once have been cardboard boxes covers everything. The refrigerator in the back for employees, an old one made out of metal, stands dented all over with a big hole in the front straight through the door. A black softly pulsing mass, almost fluidlike, kind of like your dear grandmother's turkey gravy, is splatted all over the room, with what looks like a trail leading both to and from the back loading dock. A man stands in the middle of the room, covered in a heavy hazardous material suit, examining the trail out of the room.

"Who are you?" Demanded Ethan, raising the shield in his hands threateningly.

The man jumped and spun around, "My apologies, I didn't know anyone was still alive here."

"Well we are!" yelled Kaley, supporting Karina, "and if we don't get some answers soon..."

"You may put the inhibitor down, it doesn't work on humans," The man said to Ethan, who had begun making threatening gestures with the shield, "and yes, I am human, and I am Lieutenant Colonel McDouglas." Making a sweeping gesture with his hand around the room he added, "and this, is the Drakt."

"The what? This black stuff?" Ethan asked, making a move towards a large splotch of it on the wall.

"Don't touch it!" Yelled the Lieutenant Colonel.

"Wait.... What happens if we touch it?" Questioned Kaley, still holding Karina.

Shaking his head sadly, the Lieutenant turns from looking at the spot Ethan had moved towards, "After a while you die, not in the way most people think, which is that you are simply dead. In a way, you are still alive, you can think, you can feel, you can see, but that is all. The Drakt slowly begins taking over the processes in your body. Some bodies simply become nutrients for the breeders of the Drakt, your body slowly being broken down and passed into the orifice, but others are used as soldiers, augmented by the Drakt inside them, or carriers, looking just like us but invisibly controlled and passing Drakt to others."

"Does... does this happen... one hundred percent of the time that you touch it? How much do you have to touch?" Asked Karina, a little shakily, as Kaley starts slowly shivering.

"Yes, as far as we can tell it does, and it doesn't matter how small.... why do you ask?"

Karina simply points to a large black spot on Kaley's hand.

"Dear goodness help you, lady."

Greetings and Salutations,

Nice to be doing this again, though I cannot promise it will be every week, I'm in a more difficult and time consuming university so I'll do the best I can. I'm thinking no more Saturday posts for a bit, but we'll see how that goes. I might start switching off topics every week, one week another bit of the story, the next a more.... traditional post for me. Well, until next time,

Inverse Light

"Jaison?.... Jaison?...."

"Ugh.... Daren, is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me, Daren.... you okay?"

"Yeah, ugh.... everything hurts."

"Can you move?"

"No, you?"

"Nope.... but we aren't dead.... odd...."

...

"Daren? Are those really, you know,..."

"Yes, Jaison, they are... I don't know why they are here, I don't know why they are following us, I don't know how they escaped, but they are, they did, and they're here."

"....Well, we've taken care of them once before already, remember? and with our greater skills now, surely it should be easier, I mean, we were only ten or eleven back then at that camp...."

"Yes, but back then we had Taine, neither of us knew what we were doing and only he knew what they even were. He brought us together, taught us everything, lead us, and in the end was the one to destroy them."

"But Taine left for New York; remember, Daren?"

"Yeah, I remember, he barely even said goodbye, never gave us an address, I don't even remember his last name....."

"Hey! You got free, Daren!"

"Jaison.... no I didn't."

"....Then you might want to know that I am feeling what seems to be a human hand on mine working on freeing me."

"Shhhhh...."

"Daren, I'm free now, try not to talk too much, I just got shushed by whatever, or whoever, just freed me."

"It must be working on me too, because I feel like I can move a little bit more as well.... I'm free. And now it is leading me to stand up. Quick, Jaison! Grab my hand. It's leading me somewhere!"

"Gotcha, and it feels like out... there is definitely a breeze coming from this direction."

"Shut up already, you two..."

....

"Can we talk now? It's also getting brighter, and I for one am tired of being silent, Daren can understand."

"Yeah, you never shut up, that hasn't changed at all in the nine years I've known you."

"Yes, you can talk, now."

"Then if you don't mind me asking, who are you? I am Jaison and this is Daren, how did you come to be in there? Why did you free us? Where are we going? Are you a friend or foe?"

"I understand your point of view, Daren, now. I went into the orifice to save the two of you so that you could help me in my battle. We are heading back to my camp, and I like to think of myself as a friend."

"Jaison, doesn't the way he speak bring back memories? Who are you?"

"My name, is Kasyn. Kasyn Mauri."

Greetings and Salutations,

Sorry about the lack of posts recently, I've gotten a little sidetracked with other things, including hanging out with my Girlfriend and doing school, so you can bring all of your complaints to them... they won't take them though. So suck it up. Or just keep reading and having fun, that's what I do, except the writing side of it. Well, I'm glad to be back writing, lessee how long it lasts this time.

Until next time, lemme know what you think down there in the comment section, if you like it, ideas for what should happen next, etc.

Synopsis Number 1

Greetings and Salutations,

Today is the first of hopefully many synopses pertaining to the blog. We'll take a look at which video readers thought was the best, which words and sentences were the best, and put up a list of what posts went up. Let's start with the various winners,

The video winner is Kladblog: "Some Awesome things, to which this YouTube links to: YouTube.

The most loved word is Quiescent, used post-humously by our beloved word user 'Tom Bombadil Memorizer'.

The most loved sentence is "The leader only palliated the problem instead of removing it, which caused prolonged tribulation." which was used by my fellow retired TBCRH poster 'The Professor'.

An honorable mention is the word "Shazam" which was voted on by the poster 'Arjo Bruijnes', though because it wasn't one of the words we were voting on it doesn't win. I place it up here as an honorable mention because the theme of the next seven words I will give you will be words that aren't actually considered real words but that we use anyways, like shazam.

So now you know both the winners and the new word theme, but lemme tell you the new theme for videos. The new theme will be nerd centered music that has been released mainly to the YouTube crowd. You can look forward to that starting up next week, as well as the new theme. And before I end this, I will give you a synopsis, like I used to do with TBCRH

On March 16th, I discussed blogging with regards to courtesy.

On March 23rd, I discussed wikis with regards to courtesy.

On April 13th, I discussed hacking with regards to courtesy.

On May 11th, I discussed nerd caves.

On May 18th, I discussed the entirety of web courtesy and the final law.

On May 25th, I copped out of doing a post by asking you to tell me my new series.

On August 15th, I started my new series with a storyline.

On August 24th, I continued the storyline and added two new members, Ethan and Kaley.

On August 31st, I continued the storyline within the gas station.

Thanks for a great time posting and talking to you all.

Creak.... Creak Creak....

"Then let's start with your names," came the reply from Ethan.

"I am Daren," came the reply from the man who had evidently set himself up as the spokesman of the group, without looking over at the others he continued, "the hurt girl is Karina and the man helping her is Jaison."

"I'd say nice to meet you, but I think that hardly applies in this situation," came Kaley's voice, finishing with, "but my name is Kaley and this is Ethan. I don't care if you mind me asking, so why the swords and shields? Why is she hurt? And what the heck were you running from?"

"Well, as I said before, Kaley, it's a long story, but I'll try and give you the cliff-notes version. Something flew into our car earlier, Kaley shooed it out a little more violently than I would have liked, our car broke down, when I checked under the hood I saw a...."

"Wait!" called Jaison, standing and listening carefully from where he was.

"What is it?" asked both Ethan and Daren.

"Shhhh," came the reply as Jaison stood very still, orienting his head in different ways to optimize his hearing ability and pinpoint what he was looking for. After a moment came his reply, "Can you not hear that?"

creak....

"Please tell me you heard that." asked Jaison as he looked at the others, though still keeping his head directly angled towards the back room.

"I do hear tha.... started Ethan.

creak creak....

"again!" exclaimed Daren as he ran towards the back room. As he ran he unsheathed his sword and gripped his shield tighter.

Creak!!....

"Assistance would be appreciated, Jaison!" yelled Daren as he smashed through the back door that seemed as though it was slowly buckling inwards, the creaks now obviously coming from the buckling wood."

"I'm on it!" replied Jaison, picking up his sword from where he had placed it to help Karina. Handing the shield to Ethan, he said "Hold this, protect the others, don't follow even if we call unless you see us," immediately turning around and dashing through the remnants of the door after Daren, "Watch your five, Daren!"

"What? Hey! What do I do with this?" came Ethan's voice after Jaison, holding the shield confusedly. Looking at the back of it, trying to put it on, he saw a strap to attach it to his arm and a bar to hold it for more force and deflection, but while he put it on he felt his finger brush a lever hidden in the handlebar on the back of the round shield. "What does this do? Why am I wearing this? I haven't felt so ridiculous since I was forced to participate in a duel at the renaissance festival back in high school."

Kaley looked over from where she had taken over helping Karina, "Look out Ethan!" she screamed, as something flew out of the back room.

Out of instinct, Ethan, spinning around and raising his shield, began yelling while he rushed the big black mass that had entered the front room, "Yahhhhh!" As he reached the mass he hit it with the shield, but all it did was embed the shield slightly in the writhing mass, and further instincts told him to click the lever he had felt, which made the shield vibrate slightly, at which point the entire mass moved with incredible speed back into its former room.

"What did y.... never mind, just keep doing it," came Kaley's voice from behind Ethan as he stayed where he was, facing the back door.

"If I can, I will," he replied.

"Why is it silent?"

The weak voice of Karina surprised them both, but not quite as much as they dead silence from the next room, the sounds of Daren and Jaison no longer reaching them, "careful, Ethan."

Slow footfalls echoed from the back room, to which Ethan addressed, "Jaison...? Daren...? Is that you?"

Greetings and Salutations,

I anticipate seeing what y'all will do about the Saturday posts, what videos and word usages you will pick before Saturday so I can actually include them in the post. Perhaps a suggestion for what to do next, though I already kind of have a good idea, maybe.

Until next time, lemme know what you think down there in the comment section, if you like it, ideas for what should happen next, etc.

Music Videos.... Unrated...

Greetings and Salutations,

And now we come to the part you've all been waiting for!

Except here's a problem, there is no part you've been waiting for, you were supposed to let me know what video you liked the best, but you didn't. Nobody did. Nobody rated any of them, nobody said what word they liked the most, nobody said what usage they liked the best, nothing. So the question stands, which do you like the best? If you don't like this then don't worry, if I don't hear any responses from people then Saturday posts as we know it will go kaput. If you like something, lemme know about that and perhaps your favorite video may win.

Since I'm a marginally good person I won't just leave you with the conundrum above and say goodbye, instead I'll leave you with a fairly cool video (that will not be included in the voting) and leave off the word choices until next week when I finally get all of your decisions, right?

So here's the video, it's by Tessa, also known as Meekakitty, who has become a very popular vlogger and singer on youtube, working closely with the bands "hey hi hello" and "Ministry of Magic." This is one of her songs with help from her friends Jason and Alex, called The Bacon Song.

Please don't forget to rate everything and have a great week,

Gas Stations Are Better Than Malls

A tall blond haired man stood just inside a Gas Station, signing off of his register and moving towards the door calling over his shoulder, "I'm gonna take a minute outside, Kaley, you have the store."

"Killing yourself some more? Whatever, do what you want, I won't have to deal with the lung cancer later, have fun out there Ethan," came the reply from the backroom, a beautiful young woman walking to take the recently vacated space by the register.

Chuckling to himself, Ethan opened the door and stepped out, enjoying the nice cool breeze and open air feeling not present in the concrete walled, windowless gas station behind him. Lighting his cigarette he slipped the lighter back into his pocket and waved farewell to the grocers and baggers leaving the grocery store across the street. Enjoying the last bit of his cigarette he felt the wind begin to pick up from up the road a bit, perhaps a storm setting in soon. As he placed his cigarette butt in the receptacle beside the door he heard what sounded like a scream from just up the road. Turning quickly around he gazed up the road and saw three people, a girl being assisted quickly by two boys as they ran as fast as they could towards the light of the shopping center behind Ethan. Taking a step forward both out of curiosity and a curious feeling of urgent need to assist them, Ethan opened his mouth to call to them, but the words never made it out of his mouth as he saw the dense cloud swiftly following them. Gasping in both awe and fear, a string of obscenities tumbled from his mouth, barely audible yet enough to catch the attention of all three people.

"Help us for goodness sake!" cried the girl right before she lost her footing in her running and twisted her ankle again, crying out in pain.

Hearing the hurt in her voice brought Ethan's mind back to the moment, where he quickly opened the door and yelled, "Kaley, be ready to duct tape the doors and barricade them in a moment."

"Why the heck should I do that, Ethan?" came Kaley's response, though moments too late as he had just ran to help the others with the hurt girl. "You better not be pulling something on me, it wouldn't be the first time," Came her resigned response to the empty room as she headed to the household tools section to grab some duct tape. As Kaley walked back to the front of the station she saw Ethan and two other men who inexplicably were holding swords hurriedly helping a stumbling girl into the station. Catching the emergency of the situation, Kaley joined Ethan in pulling a shelf unit towards the door as one man duct taped the cracks and the other eased the hurt girl to the floor. As she pushed the shelf all the way across the door she panted to Ethan, "I better be getting a good reasoning for this real soon."

"Same here," came his reply, and as the words came out of his mouth a great buzzing sound filled the building, at which point everyone fell to the ground and covered their ears, the sound becoming louder and growing in intensity by the moment. Suddenly, almost as quickly as it started, the noise stopped, silence quickly filling the room. Everyone nervously glanced around the room, their eyes searching shadows and ceilings for something to happen, though slowly they calmed down to their new situation.

"What the heck was that?!" came Kaley, standing up and confronting Ethan, "I need to know and I need to know now!"

"I wish I could tell you, but I know no more than you," at which point Ethan turned and gazed at the newcomers, still attempting to recover from the running and shock of it all, "What was that, tell us everything, you owe it to us."

"Well," replied one of the men, still catching his breath, "it's a long story..."

Greetings and Salutations,

And that's all for this week, I hopefully will be able to continue this as a weekly loop, and so far with my college and my preparing ahead for it I've been fine, but we'll see, until next time then, tell me how you like it so far and ideas for what should happen to them, etc.

As the Music Fades...

Greetings and Salutations,

I promised you a special video, "Next week I will give you the last song, which will have a special touch to it" forever ago and thought that as my Saturday post I'd actually do what I said I would. Gasp! Incredible! Anyways, Today I give you the final song video (so let me know in a comment down in the under-blog about which video/word you think is/was the best), so I am now accepting suggestions for either a different subject for the videos, or perhaps you would like me to continue doing music "videos." I do have quite a large retinue of good songs to give, but am also prepared for the other. So today's video comes from a fellow named Jonathan Davis, who occasionally gets around to writing music for the video games he develops. This is one of his first songs, named: "Anger Suite" for the in development game Renegades of Flame due to come out sometime within the next few years. Unfortunately, the music quality is not too high, the programs he works with are not the best for this style, and he's too poor to get the appropriate funding for that. So without further ado, here we go!

Well, nobody posted a word usage this week, so now what? do I continue with the original word until someone posts one following it? or do I give you a really easy one since maybe that was too hard for you, or, I know! I'll give you a ridiculously hard one to work with!

Don't forget to comment below and rate the word and or video, and I shall see you next Wednesday.

A Standardized Direction?

"Goodbye!" the young man yelled as he walked out of the house. His two friends, who were supposed to follow him, closed the door behind him soon after. "Great," came the voice of the man who had just left, looking through the window to see what the other two were doing. As he looked through, the young girl on the other side opened the door and both jumped in surprise. As they began walking away down the driveway to the car, letting the other man catch up when he was ready, they felt the darkness seemingly engulf them, the light escaping from chinks in the windows slowly fading, the moon above hidden by clouds, the street lights not functioning. The young girl shuddered as she left the last vestiges of light behind and clambered down alongside the young man. "What's wrong?" asked the man, thinking she had walked into a spiderweb or something similar.

"Sorry, I'm afraid of the dark," replied the girl, shuddering again.

Jokingly, the man replied in a Yoda-esque voice, "You should be..."

"What did you say?" came her reply, mildly amused yet slightly surprised by the change of voice. Behind them the door to the house opened and the final young man dashed after them, unlocking the car that the other two had almost reached, and throwing his stuff in, explaining that he had needed to say goodbye to the other friends and clean something first. As he opened his own door, the first young man noticed that something had flown into the car when the other man had opened his own door.

"I think you let a bug or something fly in when you opened your door, Daren." stated the first young man to the second.

"It's okay Jaison, I'll just roll down some of the windows and hopefully whatever flew in will fly out" he replied as he rolled down the two front windows. Unfortunately, the girl in the front passenger seat did not like the idea of something flying around and possibly getting in her hair, so she immediately started looking all around her for whatever had flown in. Spotting it she immediately started swatting it towards the open window beside her.

"Oh leave it alone Karina, it'll find its way out on its own," said Jaison, right as the bug, or whatever it was, flew out of the window, Daren rolling up the windows shortly after.

"Ouch," stated Karina as she looked at a little dark mark on the palm of her hand. "I didn't ever hit it, or at least I didn't feel it."

"Then why did you say ouch? Are you imagining things now?" asked Daren, kind of chuckling to himself now.

"Seriously!, Whatever it did it left a mark," retorted Karina, showing it to Jaison.

"Yeah, that's pretty strange," agreed Jaison, clearly seeing the dark mark, as Karina turned to show it to Daren, who was just then stopping at a light. "The light is green, you don't have to stop, Daren."

A puzzled look spread quickly across Daren's face as he replied, "Yeah, I know that, my foot is pressing the gas pedal to the floor."

"Well," Daren said, getting out of the car and popping the trunk, "Jaison, you grab my set of repair tools out of the trunk while I take a look under the hood. Karina, grab our backpacks from the car for me wouldya, I've had the car autolock and break the key hole before on a similar occasion as this." As Jaison brought Daren his tools he gently and carefully opened the hood of the car, a thin trail of smoke escaping from one of the oil testing pipes. "Let's see what we have here," Daren muttered, gripping the testing rod and removing it slowly, checking the length of it as he removed it."

"Why do you keep a veritable armory in your trunk?" asked Karina, gazing into the neatly strapped and organized weaponry, both classical and modern, that took up most of the space in the trunk of Daren's little sedan, but Daren was too engrossed with what he had just found attached to the end of the rod.

"Is that really a..." began Jaison, seeing the little shadowy shape seemingly impaled on the rod. "Karina, grab the two plainest looking swords and shields you see in the trunk but stay back there," was his immediate reply to the nod he had received from Daren.

"Why? what's happe..." She began but was interrupted by Jaison saying, "Just do it, and now," to which she obeyed, hearing the seriousness of the situation in the tone of his voice.

"The moment I set this down," said Daren, "run as fast as you can up the road; there is a gas station about half a mile away that will provide shelter."

"3,... 2,... 1,..." and with as much gentleness as could be performed with his shaking hands he set it on the ground and dashed as fast as he could up the road, slightly behind the other two who had been farther away. He picked up his backpack and a matching sword and shield as the ones Jaison already had on the way, and seeing Karina look behind her he said "Don't turn! Just keep running." It was too late however, for she had seen the monstrous shadow approaching, though it lent an additional strength to her running, as they dashed off towards shelter.

Woot! I'm back!... oh, yeah, um....

Greetings and Salutations,

As you may have noticed I am returning from a long summer hiatus, one which has proved useful in maintaining what little sanity I have left from the business of life, but I have missed this too much to leave forever. I'm going to be changing things around a little bit, first off: Saturday videos will be about the same. A video, a fancy word, and whatever else comes to mind for me to say or do, perhaps I'll add a link to a good webcomic, and maybe not. We'll just have to find out, now won't we?

About Wednesday posts though, I have several ideas, one that I know that I'm going to do, but I am probably going to switch off with the others as well. The main idea I have can be seen above, I've always wanted to do a traditional blog, you know, the ones where you tell what happened to you that day and what you thought about things, but my life is fairly average and too boring for most people to want to read. But I've also wanted to write fiction, though that is pretty hard for me to do also. So I recently decided I'd do both. Yes, the story above is taken from things that happened to me and my friends recently, though their names and mine have been changed and the way they act in the story does not necessarily reflect their actual feelings or actions (so don't get angry if you think you are one of the characters and something happens to them or they do something stupid). If it manages to become interesting it might start deciding its own path and leave my own life events to just be a story, but I'll let you know if that happens. I will also be doing my more standard Wednesday posts either on another day or switching off with the storyline, so don't worry that you won't get my long rants or obnoxiously detailed information anymore, it's still coming too.

Anyhoo, lemme know how you feel in the comment section (I need a name for that) and I anticipate seeing you Saturday (yes this counts as my Wednesday post, I just got a little ahead of myself). Hope I haven't chased all of you off with the long break, but it is all over now. Thanks to all my devoted fans and sorry for the wait, hope you aren't going to be disappointed with the new setup.

Video Games Have the Best Music

Greetings and Salutations,

Today I give you the first reader suggested song, and announce that the end is nigh. Next week I will give you the last song, which will have a special touch to it, but you'll have to see that later. After the song will be the time to vote so don't forget to do that. Also, before I get to the song I'd like to invite you to check out my new project over at The Land of Preenin, where I am building a new table top role playing game (ttrpg), I will occasionally cross post things over here, but they shall be to separate entities and trust me, I'm not abandoning this, it will continue going on hopefully better than usual. The song video of the day is called Godot's Theme, or The Fragrance of Dark Coffee. The song comes from the game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations which is part of the Ace Attorney series of legal system games. The song was originally written by Noriyuki Iwadare, and is included in the Ace Attorney Orchestrated Album, Attorney Meets Orchestra. I provide it to you today thanks to Xyrsk from youtube, and I hope you enjoy it.

We actually have two winners this week, Wayne for creativity in his speech, and The Professor from TBCRH for his use of both the main word and the secret word. I received a complaint that the word was too often used in a medical sense, so Wayne wins for his statement: "Mom palliated my indignation at the injustice of her decision with a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Mmmmmm...." And The Professor wins for his statement: "The leader only palliated the problem instead of removing it, which caused prolonged tribulation." Thanks to you both and many congratulations, now try this somewhat easier one on for size:

Renegade
~rebel, outlaw, having deserted a cause or principle, break with established customs.

Don't forget to comment below and rate the word and or video, and I shall see you next Wednesday.

Some Housekeeping Jazz

Greetings and Salutations,

I have not yet come up with a solid topic for my next series, though I have thought of some smaller things that I could either do for a short while until I come up with a better topic, or possibly combine one or more of my ideas and do a series consisting of two combined shorter posts every week. I do not know how any of you feel about my posting style, whether you like my Saturday shorter post style or my Wednesday twice as long style. Or possibly you like different parts of both, I don't know because you have never seen fit to answer me when I ask you, so I doubt that you will now, so just to let you know I will continue how I have been doing it until I hear otherwise.

The few ideas that I have will be detailed in the following sentences, I was going to just quick list them but after doing that it was confusing to understand, even for me, and I generally have an idea of what I am saying. My first idea is to do a short post each week on some famous internet memes, include with it the picture, phrase, or video that accompanies it, and that is an unending line so I would have plenty of stuff to talk about. My second idea is to do a short post each week about a webcomic, which I consider myself an expert of, as I have kept up to date on 42 of them so far, and that doesn't include the ones I have been trying to get up to date on. My third idea was to talk about various types of gaming: card, board, computer, online, console, desktop rpg, larp, etc. My fourth idea was to do a very short series, no more than three or four posts I believe, on various types of art: music, painting/drawing, sculpture, etc. And finally, I had an idea that perhaps one of you would have an idea for me, a lovely thought, but I am figuring that you will probably tell me to do one or a few of the above instead, but make sure to tell me, or I will pick them myself.

And with that, I close. Thanks as usual for listening or not, comment if you desire, or not. Please remember to reply to the two above questions, it would make me very happy if you did. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or email us at our new address. If you want to make accusations or have any general complaints or see any errors, whether small grammatical errors or large continuity ones, please feel free to let me know.

Play it Like You Feel Their Pain

Greetings and Salutations,

Today I present to you a song that I myself have played: the magnificent Aria Di Chiesa, written by Alessandro Stradella a long long time ago back in what we music nerds call the Baroque Period of music. The version I am giving to you is a musical arrangement minus the vocals, which if you wish to find are quite easy to discover on YouTube. The reason they include the word aria after removing the singing is because for one it is a part of the original name of the song, and two it gives you a big clue to what type of song it will be. There are a couple different types of arias, one of them being the aria in a minor key, which is always the type of song that is low, saddening, for example I have lists of arias in a minor key that take place in an opera directly after betrayal, death of a loved one, heartbreak, and more. Today I give to you my saddest song, please tell me how it makes you feel, because everybody goes through different circumstances and that predisposes them to be affected by different things.

Tom Bombadil Memorizer has done it again, using words when nobody else does and nobody else is paying attention seems to be his/her strong point, and even though s/he posted it outside of the blog which I would prefer not to happen though nobody else reads this so I suppose it's fine, she wins by using this phrase and going above and beyond the requirements: "It's actually quite simple: everyone decided to remain quiescent last week." Congratulations on your commentification skills and word using powers, and now I challenge you to use this next word:

Palliate
~alleviate without removing the problem

Internetiquette

Greetings and Salutations,

Here are the rules:

Rule 1 ~~~ Never use verbal abuse... ever.

Rule 2 ~~~ Calmly and passively tell someone "you know there is a better way to do 'X'" or "you know, I thought that you weren't supposed to do 'X'" or even "please don't do 'X'" and always follow these up with a 'because...' statement to provide a reason.

Rule 3 ~~~ Protect your friends, do your part, that is all.

Rule 4 ~~~ Take criticism and teaching and act on it.

Rule 5 ~~~ Don't be a noob, kill noobs if you get a chance, and protect newbs as you would your own friends/clan/guild etc.

Rule 6 ~~~ Don't be a troll. In anything, video games, chat rooms, forums, any medium for conversation, don't be a troll. Nobody loves you if you are a troll.

Rule 7 ~~~ Don't fight a troll, answer a troll once with a clearly defined thought pattern for why you believe what you do or sufficient proof, kindly, to the contrary, and if they still fight back then they truly are a troll, ignore them. Totally ignore them.  The moderators will take care of them or they will get bored. if you show that you are annoyed at them then they will never stop and yo will have defeated yourself.

Rule 8 ~~~  If it hurts anything, physically, emotionally, psychologically, socially, and spiritually... and any other thing that ends in ~ly that sounds right for this, then it should not be done.

Rule 9 ~~~ Once is usually enough, twice is making a point, thrice is proving it, the fourth time? nobody cares, seriously.

Rule 10 ~~~ Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Rule 11 ~~~ If you are not at least a partially mature patient individual who is not out to be a jerk, leave. Leave now, and never come back.

As I said in my last Wednesday post, I will give you the special rule derived from what would have been the "General Failing" post. This rule is a rule set in every set of rules, no matter how long the list is and how detailed it is. This rule I like to call Rule 0, though it is different from the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Dungeon Master (DM) Rule 0, which states that the DM is always right. Rule 0 states that to every rule, there is an exception to that rule, and thus this is where Rule 11 really comes into play, because you have to use a lot of maturity to be able to use Rule 0. Sadly, not many people follow rule 11, which is all the more the pity. The last thing I can say before I finish this topic once and for all is that it is impossible to truly set a group of rules for the internet, because the beauty of the internet, and simultaneously its downfall, is that it has no rules and is ruled by no person, corporation, or governing entity.

And with that, I close. Thanks as usual for listening or not, comment if you desire, or not. If I missed any of the rules, please notify me and I'll try to find it again. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or email us at our Email address. If you want to make accusations or have any general complaints or see any errors, whether small grammatical errors or large continuity ones, please feel free to let me know.

Now Bleed With Me....

Greetings and Salutations,

Today's video is the Freedom theme from Braveheart, directed by Mel Gibson and music written by James Horner. During the movie, this song plays during the execution of the star of the show, William Wallace, who gives up his life saving Scotland, for the freedom of his people. Immediately afterwards is the finale of the movie, as the Scottish regain their freedom in Wallace's name. It heavily features the bagpipes, as they are Scottish in origin. Here's the movie and please tell me what particular emotion this song evokes in you, how good you think it is, and perhaps any other tidbits of information your brain produces.

I received no word usages over the past interval of time, fail. It was an easy word too, for example: Today I had a quiescent day. This week's word will be easier then:

Simple
 ~Easy, not difficult

A Deviation From Our Current Trajectory

Greetings and Salutatory Statements to one and all,

As my little wordy hint above in blue can show you, I will be changing my plans slightly. Looking back and pondering on the topics for today and next Wednesday post, I have noticed some discrepancies. After racking my brain in search of some way to make general failing relevant, which for the most part it isn't, I have come to the conclusion that only one rule can be drawn from it, and it in itself is very much a special case. In addition, looking at the case of the picture post which would have been today, I have come to the conclusion that a rule can be derived from it, but it would be too similar to rule 8 as it would say that if it scars someone then it should not be online, or if it is racist, etc. ~if it hurts anything, physically, emotionally, psychologically, socially, and spiritually... and any other thing that ends in -ly that sounds right for this, then it should not be done~. So basically there would be no positive necessity to posting these next few days. And then it occurred to me that you still deserved a post, especially after the lack of posts these past few weeks, but believe me, rule numero uno of writing anything is to not write about something that you are disinterested in, and I must apologize that for the past two Wednesday posts my interest has been waning. This is something important, and a list of good rules should exist online, but after however many posts, there should be a point where either someone else steps in to take up the mantle or it is put on hold for a while, and I confess that I am unable to come up with any new rules as of now. Thus, to spare you the misery of reading terrible writing I am stopping this line of posts immediately....

And starting another! Until I can come up with a theme, of course please feel free to email me any suggestions, but today I write about having your own domain, a nerd cave of sorts. Anyways, many times people will make a sort of "shrine" to their favorite topic or occupation. It becomes a matter of pride to the people, even if it is just having better items than others. Let me give you some examples of some shrines, in visual aid form:

VGC Collection

For if you are unable to tell from the smallish pictures, from top left to bottom right you have the video game nerds dream: The largest known collection of video games ever, a beautifully handmade steampunk computer desk, a man cave complete with display cases full of collectible sports cards, and a hand modified Nintendo Entertainment System. Almost everybody has some collection or favorite item that they are proud of and more than happy to show off or perhaps even be miserly and hide it away. I myself have a rather large collection of games and consoles, as well as musical instruments, and not surprisingly that is what I do. Many times the people who collect baseball cards are the people who used to play or still play a lot of baseball, almost all the time the people who get the collections of video games play them regularly, people who love Firefly put little browncoats stickers on the backs of their cars and carry little plastic dinosaurs around, and people who have musical paraphernalia play music. The majority of the time this is reversible as well, for example I play music so I collect instruments, she likes to read so she has a large library she likes to show off, etc.

Write and tell me what kind of things you like and how you like to collect or get the best etc. for what you might enjoy, though it might not apply to some of you. You can even send in pictures and I'll feature them in a post. Don't forget about the word of the mont.....I guess it's supposed to be week isn't it, whoops. And with that, I close. Thanks as usual for listening or not, comment if you desire, or not. Next week I will give you the compiled rules and tell you about the one rule from general failing. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or email us at our new address. If you want to make accusations or have any general complaints or see any errors, whether small grammatical errors or large continuity ones, please feel free to let me know.

(By the way check out TBCRH, someone just posted on it again, enjoy reading over there!)

A Change of Plans

Greetings and Salutations,

I have decided to adjust how I have been doing these videos, they apparently are not very effective in their current state, and so I shall be doing them in a theme, hopefully more of you readers out there will gain enough courage to commentify below. The new theme for the new series starting today, yes this means that the previous two videos will not be voted on or included in this series, unless you send me videos arguing one way or another or giving me a vote, will be music. By music I don't mean hard rock etc. I mean moving pieces, music that all you have to do is listen to the melody and your soul takes over and you feel without even knowing all of the feelings the composer and/or musicians are feeling. Little warning, many of these songs may be sad, as unfortunately sadness is one of the only emotions which carries through any medium, from music to paintings and even dance. If you have any suggestions for good songs that you think are very emotional, whether positively or negatively, please feel free to post a link in a comment below, or send a link to me in an email.

Today's video is the main theme from the movie Schindler's List, by John Williams. The song is a sad one, and has at its back the story of a German who works with Jews during the holocaust in WWII. The video itself was made by "Stigno89", though the music as said before was composed and directed by John Williams and the violin melody is played by the world famous Itzhak Perlman. Here's the movie and please tell me what  particular emotion this song evokes in you, how good you think it is, and perhaps any other tidbits of information your brain produces.

I only received one word usage suggestion for this past week again, so I suppose it is the winner, again, same person. Last week's winner is Tom Bombadil Memorizer with their statement "Unlike many other books I have had to read for school, "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens is not at all a soporific work." Congratulations for your commentification, and now for this week's word of the week:

Quiescent
~Quiet, Still, Inactive

Don't forget to comment below and rate the word and or video, I shall unfortunately not be able to post this Wednesday nor this upcoming Saturday due to me being out of town, though if I find a way I will certainly try to post.

1 H4XX0R J00 PH001Z!!!11!!!!1!

Greetings and Salutations,

Today I give you a shorter post, not for lack of information, not for lack of interest, and certainly not for lack of controversy. The term "Hacker" or even the more politically correct one "Cracker" has many controversial views surrounding it, some positive outlooks on it, and there are a very large number of people that fit into both categories. So here's a couple of definitions for the term hacker which give it a controversial name sometimes: someone who hacks friend's computers in a playful sense (like making their computer say happy birthday on it), someone who is incredibly good with technology (like Ajay Bhatt), or someone who hacks computers for personal gain and or to cause mischief. Basically, a hacker is someone who has either really good skill with a computer, or has learned how to compromise the internal security of a computer through various means. We'll go ahead and ignore the first two definitions of hackers because they are socially acceptable and cause no courtesy problems generally.

The main reason I will not be giving as long a post this time, if you haven't figured it out already, is because there is an incredible amount of information in this, and at the same time there truly isn't any secure information that everybody can agree on. In addition, a lot of the things that would have to be brought up are for one, too hard for most standard readers here to understand, two, there is a lot of information that not everybody needs to know, even though you can easily find ways of learning it for free on the web, and three, I really don't want the blog to be hacked. The basic principle of a hacker is finding weaknesses and vulnerabilities in a webpage or computer connection, and then exploiting them so as to either gain information, release viruses, or a multitude of other devious things. Many people think that this can't be bad, even if they are caught shortly, but it still can cause problems. One of my good friends over at D+pad, Joseph B. Elkouby, who I suppose I can hardly call a good friend due to the limited number of correspondences we have shared, though that is beside the point, had his comic hacked several times, and he is still dealing with the people who are doing it. Imagine someone coming into your house and looking at stuff and moving it around, even if they don't take anything, it still gets into your mind and you become afraid even in your own home. This is the same sort of situation, I imagine you know already that I am going to say that you shouldn't do this and make up some special sounding rule to go along with it, but some things are just common sense, don't do it, it's against the law as well.

So all this goes to show that yes it's pretty cool to be able to do this, but don't do anything illegal and don't mess with other people's stuff. This is pretty basic and I'm sure that at one point during your upbringing someone, whether it was your mom, dad, or other form of guardian told you this. Like rule 11 basically states: if you aren't mature and have the standard morals of society, don't use the internet.

And with that, I close. Thanks as usual for listening or not, comment if you desire, or not. The rules are being compiled as it goes and will be ready by the end for the final post. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or email us at our new address. If you want to make accusations or have any general complaints or see any errors, whether small grammatical errors or large continuity ones, please feel free to let me know.

Press "Start"...... "A" Will Also Do

Greetings and Salutations,

My apologies for not posting recently, I was on restriction, but hopefully I will have no more of those. Random personal update, I have recently gained an automobile and thus have considerably more freedom. Having a car is very nice, if you don't have one you should get one, or get older so you can get one, or get a job so you can get one. On a completely different note, I will be doing the videos not on a six week series as previously stated, but on a six movie series, which will make a little bit more sense.

The video of this week is "Some Awesome Things", by Kladblog showing different actions humans can perform in order to inspire us to do all that we are capable of. The video itself was made by Enola Arvalap Nebork Capepro, or at least that is what the video says, the music is wonderful too. Commentify below if you see someone failing....

I unfortunately only received one word suggestion for this past week, so I suppose it is the winner, though I would like to state that from now on, unless it is either sent to ticnag@gmail.com or as a comment below, it does not count, this is mainly because there are some viewers who cannot see those posts, though if you would like to do that as well, please feel free. Last "week's" winner is Tom Bombadil Memorizer with their statement "That was indubitably a fantastic shot." Congratulations for your commentification, and now for this week's word of the week:

Soporific
~Causing or tending to cause sleep or a dulled awareness

Don't forget to comment below and rate the word and or video, I shall see you shortly, when wednesday comes around again.
